About Blue Ridge Rising

Blue Ridge Rising unites the 29 gateway communities along the Blue Ridge Parkway around a shared vision for connection, stewardship, and growth. Guided by the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation, the initiative turns local priorities into coordinated regional action, helping communities strengthen economies, enrich visitor experiences, and invite Parkway travelers to discover the towns and people that define the region’s character.
Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation
The Foundation launched Blue Ridge Rising in 2023 and continues to manage the program. The Foundation is the Parkway’s official nonprofit partner and manages three other efforts: Kids in Parks, the Blue Ridge Music Center, and The Bluffs Restaurant.
Blue Ridge Rising Team
The Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation provides the core staffing for Blue Ridge Rising, with assistance from Friends of Southwest Virginia. The two organizations utilize their complementary strengths, skills, and experience to support every Blue Ridge Rising initiative.
Community Ambassadors
Blue Ridge Rising Community Ambassadors are established leaders with deep knowledge of their communities. They voice the unique needs of their communities, help prioritize and guide projects, and foster partnerships.
