The Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation partnered with Clemson University’s Institute for Parks to bring a small group of faculty and interdisciplinary graduate students to the Parkway in May 2026 to conduct qualitative assessments of 59 Blue Ridge Parkway viewpoints between mileposts 202 and 318. Their analysis is helping project partners identify priority viewsheds for voluntary land and water conservation efforts. In the process, the Park Break team tested and refined a viewshed analysis ranking system that other groups will use to survey the rest of the Parkway viewpoints later in summer 2026. Want to help?
