While Hurricane Helene negatively affected tourism late in 2024, tourism numbers for the whole year were similar to 2023, with 16.7 million visitors, who spent $1.5 billion in local gateway communities, in turn supporting 15,700 jobs and providing a total economic impact of $1.9 billion.
